The Client

The District Council of Robe is a progressive local government committed to preserving the natural beauty and unique character of the Robe township while ensuring the delivery of reliable and sustainable infrastructure services.
With a strong focus on community wellbeing and future-focused planning, the Council continuously invests in initiatives that support growth, environmental stewardship, and operational resilience.
Its dedication to upgrading critical services such as wastewater management, demonstrates a long-term commitment to both the health of the environment and the needs of residents, visitors, and local businesses across the community.
Challenge
The District Council of Robe manages 23 wastewater pump stations across the township; critical infrastructure that has faced increasing strain due to ageing equipment, rising demand, and a lack of system-wide visibility.
With no SCADA system in place and limited instrumentation, the Council’s operations team was forced to respond reactively to issues, often without the insight needed to optimise or prevent faults.
Much of the hardware was outdated, inconsistent, and unsupported, presenting growing risks to operational continuity and community service.
Solution
IoTics was engaged by the Council to perform a full audit of their CWMS pump station network and develop a detailed SCADA and control system upgrade design.
This included the creation of a comprehensive tender-ready scope, allowing the Council to move confidently into procurement.
Drawing on extensive experience in water and wastewater management, IoTics proposed a scalable, modernised control and monitoring architecture designed to meet current challenges and enable future growth.
Approach
IoTics worked closely with Council stakeholders over several months, including site visits, documentation reviews, consultations with the operations team, and collaborative workshops with technology partners.
Leveraging existing infrastructure wherever possible, the audit and design process was shaped to minimise cost and maximise long-term value.
IoTics developed three tailored solution tiers—Essential, Ideal, and Advanced, giving Council the flexibility to scale its investment while ensuring a future-proof platform.
Outcome
IoTics delivered a high-value design and audit package that empowers Robe Council to modernise its wastewater network with confidence. Key achievements included:
- A fully engineered and standardised tender-ready design
- A roadmap for scalable, low-risk infrastructure investment
- Real-time visibility, improved safety, and reduced maintenance load
- Stronger business continuity and environmental risk mitigation
By engaging IoTics for this foundational phase, the District Council of Robe has positioned itself for a smarter, more sustainable future, and demonstrated the value of expert-led design in infrastructure transformation.
