Smart, Remote Pumping Test Stations Enabling Efficient Bore-Field Assessment Across WA

< Back to Proven Results

The Client

Resource Water Group (RWG) is a Western Australian company with over 50 years of combined experience in mining and water services. They specialise in bore field infrastructure, high-flow pump testing, equipment installation, and water quality testing.

RWG is known for its reliable, safety-first approach and strong relationships with major clients like BHP and Rio Tinto. Their expertise in downhole recovery, custom fabrication, and system maintenance makes them a trusted partner for end-to-end water management solutions.

Challenge

IoTics were appointed to develop a bespoke and highly-specialised control system platform for use in qualifying load capacity of prospective bore-fields across regional Western Australia through a network of test-pumping stations.

Mavida Projects, together with Resource Water Group, needed a custom-built, transportable control system for a series of bore-field test-pumping stations in remote Western Australia.

These stations needed to withstand harsh mining conditions, be simple to configure by non-technical operators, and offer 24/7 remote data visibility through a reliable and highly secure hosted SCADA interface.

The challenge was to ensure the system could be rapidly deployed and maintained, without requiring constant on-site expertise.

Solution

Drawing on extensive water sector experience, IoTics designed and implemented a fully bespoke control platform tailored to the exact requirements of the application.

The solution included a robust control system, a highly secure communications network, and a remote histed SCADA interface; purpose-built for durability, usability, and remote access.

Notably, the system supported remote engineering updates, meaning changes and diagnostics could be done in-field without dispatching technical staff.

Approach

IoTics worked closely with all project stakeholders to understand every operational need. Through an iterative, collaborative design process over several months, the team developed a refined platform that could be replicated across multiple future deployments.

Emphasis was placed on usability, with a fail-safe operator interface and secure, intuitive SCADA portal. The solution was thoroughly tested to ensure reliability in demanding environmental conditions.

Outcome

The success of the project between all teams afforded our client and their respective end-users the ability to attain full transparency and insight of their assets 24/7 through our remotely hosted SCADA platform.

  • 24/7 remote access to live plant status, trends, and process data

  • Safe, autonomous operation of pumping systems in remote areas

  • Eliminated need for frequent site visits, saving time and operational costs

  • Enabled field changes and remote support without dispatching engineers

  • Built-in fail-safe data logging and high-reliability monitoring
