Challenge
Iluka Resources, through water treatment specialists Proxa Water, required a high-spec, containerised Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant to service a remote Western Australian mine.
The system needed to be modular, engineered to mining standards, and delivered under significant time pressure.
With key stakeholders across multiple time zones and engineering centers, the project posed coordination and delivery risks.
Solution
IoTics was engaged to deliver the full electrical and control system design and manufacture all panels for the RO plant. This milestone included:
- Detailed electrical and control system design across a multi-skid, modular RO plant
- Manufacture of six fully custom, mining-spec control panels to integrate with containerised skids
- Panel builds completed to an exceptionally high standard under tight timelines
These panels were then shipped to South Africa for system integration ahead of broader site deployment on site at our customers client in Western Australia.
Approach
This complex, multi-party project involved close collaboration with Proxa, Iluka, and Honeywell (who manage the mine’s DCS).
Despite the challenges of differing time zones, shifting scopes, and last-minute design changes, the IoTics team adapted swiftly, drawing on the strength of our highly flexible and agile engineering and workshop teams.
Notably, all this work was delivered ahead of schedule and to spec, even with limited access to client-side engineering support in Adelaide. The milestone reflects our ability to scale rapidly and meet demanding quality standards across borders.

- All major panels built, tested, and shipped on time
- Demonstrated IoTics’ capacity to handle large-scale, modular mining water projects
- Laid the foundation for upcoming phases including:
- PLC and HMI programming
- Local SAT and commissioning support
- Site lighting design and additional infrastructure
